How do I Manage My New Jersey Unemployment Benefits

You must declare that you are able to work, that you are actively seeking job, and that you will take work if and when it is provided each week in order to receive benefits.

Weekly certification will be submitted via the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s weekly certification form each week. Based on your work search and employment activities from the previous week, you will answer questions on this form to see if you are still eligible for your weekly benefit. If you quit for “good cause,” though, you may be able to collect. The state unemployment office determines what constitutes good reason, and you can make your case for getting benefits.

You should be entitled to a hearing if your claim is denied so that you can explain your claim. You should contact your local office because regulations and conditions differ from state to state.
